The project

The dance of French hip-hop legends

Artizans is the meeting-retrieval of seven dancers from the Battle Hip Hop and House generation of the 1990s, with the desire to bring together and tell the story of these trajectories on stage. In a triple logic of memory, transmission and affirmation, they share the excellence of French-style Hip Hop, which they have been representing on the international scene for over twenty years. It's also about showcasing the transformation of our dances, with their explosive energy, towards a more mature, mastered dance, which moves with economy of gesture and thickness of embodiment.

ARTIZANS... are the dancers of the Clubbing, Battle & Freestyle generation:

Yugson Hawks - Massangila Lumengo ; Physs - Philippe Almeida ; Joseph Go - Niamien N'Guessan ; Fabbreezy - Fabrice Labrana ; Tijo Aimé - Didier Firmin ; Dedson - Ndedi Ma Sellu ; Tip Top - Goyi Tangale

The project is a choreographic piece for 7 dancers including 2 DJs. At the same time, the collection of interviews, stories, photo archives, videos and podcasts will form an exhibition linked to the performance of the piece. Artizans is a 5-month residency from June to October 2024 and 10 performances from October 2024 to June 2025.

Artizans

Seven legendary dancers from the Battle generation of the 1990's/2000's come together on stage to relive the effervescence of an era... Through DJ sets and virtuoso dance passages, they invent a space for dialogue, where they confront their inspirations, influences, cultures, specificities, styles and identities in a triple logic of memory, transmission and affirmation. These guardians of the temple share with us the excellence of French Hip Hop, a heritage and values they have represented on the international scene for over twenty years.
