G.R.O.O.V.E. at the Avignon Festival
On Wednesday, July 5, 2023, Bintou Dembélé opened the Avignon Festival stage with her show G.R.O.O.V.E.. Under the captivated gaze of over 400 spectators gathered in a semi-circle on the esplanade of the Palais des papes, the Compagnie Rualité offered a one-of-a-kind stroll with its 29 performers.
True to her artistic signature, mixing hip-hop and street influences, Bintou Dembélé gave life to a "Marronne" dance of exceptional intensity. Accompanied by the voice of Célia Kameni, the artist slowed down time to create a magical moment of exchange and sharing with the audience. The show is structured in four sequences, in which dance, music, film projection and theater meet and mingle harmoniously. For three hours, the audience was transported into Bintou Dembélé's artistic universe, suspending time and creating a deep connection between spectators and performers.
Initially presented in March 2023 at the Opéra de Lille, G.R.O.O.V.E. has been revisited to pay tribute to young Nahel, who tragically died in June 2023 in Nanterre, killed by a policeman. This poignant touch adds an extra social dimension to Bintou Dembélé's performance.
After this memorable opening night at the Avignon Festival, Bintou Dembélé's multidisciplinary wandering will continue its artistic journey. G.R.O.O.V.E. will be in Paris and Antibes in October 2023. Don't miss this unique opportunity to plunge into the captivating universe of Bintou Dembélé and her partners, for a magical and moving moment of exchange.
