Artistic actions for the well-being and the opening to the other

Orchestre Ostinato

To deliver a little of oneself and even sometimes to bare oneself, to appreciate, to contemplate, to allow oneself to be astonished without judgement, to allow the invisible, that of the margin, to become visible in society. This is what is at stake for social action artists who use their territories of creativity as zones of exchange with others.

This newsletter is dedicated to them! It is an opportunity to share some of the concerns of the project leaders that we support and who work to create new doors where there is no way out, new entrances where the borders are set up.

Emmanuelle Duthu with the Orchestre-atelier Ostinato and a group of performers is one of them. She looks for opportunities to reintegrate the marginalized into society and together, they have addressed prison inmates to give them a place in the group, to find the emotion in them and give them the desire to do otherwise.

"When you see guys from Fleury-Mérogis who are still strong guys, who have not necessarily done very nice things just before and you see them crying while singing, won over by emotion, by something beyond them. I tell you, there is nothing more beautiful and we understand that it makes them feel good.” confides to us Emmanuelle.

"Most of the discomfort and crime is related to the loneliness they experience. These moments of emotional escape allow inmates to forget for a moment the daily loneliness of incarceration."

We were able to witness this during the great concert on February 17, 2023 at the Maison de la Mutualité! An emotion mixed with pride and accomplishment reigned on stage. A moment of grace to be found in pictures on our website www.fondsfranciskurkdjian.org.

And that's not all!

We are very happy that this month, two meetings-workshops will take place as a result of synergies between project leaders.

Indeed, the young people in the sensitive Rep+ of the Collège Romain-Rolland will benefit from two privileged moments. Nothing less than a meeting with the dancer Krump WOLF within the framework of the dance workshops led by the association What Dance Can Do; and two sessions of creation of embroideries resulting from their migration stories, led by Farooq Gul and Nina Chalot of We Came From, in view of their scenography for their end-of-year show.
